A lot of northern support programs will be highlighted at a conference

The 595 Prevention Team and the Play It Safer Network are holding a Manitoba Harm Reduction Conference, Working With Unique Populations Northern Style on August 26th and 27th at Bakers Narrows Lodge.  The Programs Carrie Pockett says there will be a lot of information for any health care and service providers, people who work in schools and others interested.  She says their keynote speaker is going to be Margaret Bryans speaking on the beginning of caring including mothering, harm reduction and pregnancy, they’ll also showcase a number of harm reduction programs that are active in the north such as AFM and the Insight Mentor Program.  She adds they are also going to have speakers on aboriginal cultural approaches to sexually transmitted and blood borne infection prevention, treatment and care as well as conversations on overdose prevention and the Manitoba HIV program.
