Volunteers and a pet were honored at an annual meeting.

At the Flin Flon, Creighton and Area SPCA annual meeting Wednesday night the organization honored three volunteers, Patty Evans for her work at the shelter, Greg Evans for his work at the shelter and on walking trails and Community Volunteer Kathy Lysohirka for her work at fund and food raising working in conjunction with her employer Walmart. Also honored was the Pet Hero of the Year, a dog named Toby owned by Charlene Pelly who is an insulin dependent diabetic.  Toby can sense and react when she is having low sugar.

Vice-President Debbie Hiebert reported the SPCA’s biggest accomplishment last year was the opening of the new shelter in September and they are working on a Doggie Playground with plans for a Cat Gazebo.  Adoptions are going well and more people are taking part in their spay-neuter subsidy program.

The SPCA is continuing fund raising with their annual quad raffle, Friday night meat draws at the Hooter and selling Nevadas at the Legion.
