A Tribute to Fallen Workers is Being Held Sunday Night.

April 28th is recognized as a National Day of Mourning.  Flin Flon MLA Tom Lindsey says it commemorates workers who have been killed, injured or otherwise made sick while on the job with statistics showing 951 workplace fatalities were recorded in Canada in 2017 along with over 251 thousand accepted claims for lost time due to work related injury or accident.  He adds on the Day of Mourning we grieve for those we’ve lost and for the loved ones they left behind.  However he notes we also have to renew our commitment to preventing further occupational related deaths, injuries and diseases by improving health and safety in the workplace.

Lindsey will take part in the Day of Mourning in Flin Flon at the United Steelworkers Local 7106 monument Sunday night at 7:30 beside the Victoria Inn.
