Six unions at Hudbay in Flin Flon and Snow Lake voted on a new contract today.
The International Association of Machinists Local 1848 had a 77 percent turnout with 68 percent voting to ratify the agreement. The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1405 voted 86 percent in favor. The United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 1614 had an 80 percent turnout with 90 percent in favor. The International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local 451 had an 80 percent turnout with 86 percent in favor of ratification.
The United Steelworkers reported they don’t release numbers but local 7106 said the contract was ratified and local 9338 said they voted to accept Hudbay’s final offer.
The agreement comes into effect January 1st and offers a 2.5 percent wage increase per year over the three year contract along with increases in pension and health benefits.
