Our Member of Parliament Continues to Call For Action on a Rail Line.

The residents of Churchill have been without rail service for over half a year and the situation doesn’t seem any closer to a resolution.  Member of Parliament Niki Ashton says that even though the Federal Government is starting to take action they don’t seem to understand how urgent the situation is.  She says Omnitrax is continuing to play games. She adds she sees the Federal government’s approach is quite positive but she’s concerned there isn’t the sense of urgency that is needed there, that construction season is passed but are they going to be ready in the new year to hit the ground running and ultimately how can we get Omnitrax out of the north because its been just one thing after another.

On another topic even though the NDP are in support of legalizing cannabis Ashton says they aren’t happy with the Federal Liberal’s approach and timeline.  She says resources are needed to support communities in the face of the tight timeline so everyone including the police can do the work they need to do and that’s still missing.
