The official ribbon was cut Friday to mark the grand opening of the Black Bear Bike Park at Collin Park in Creighton.  The ribbon was held by Town Administrator Paula Muench and Recreation Director Channa Senyk and cut by former Assistant Recreation Director Crystal Banting who developed the project. She explains she went on vacation to Frenie and at the bottom of Mount Fernie they had a bicycle park and her boys absolutely loved it and she thought there’s not a whole lot of technical issues to do with it, it’s very simple park but they could always make it bigger and better and she thought if she can get grant money for it why not.

Banting says it took about two years from the idea to applying for grants to building the bike park.  Funding was provided by the Town of Creighton, Community Initiatives Fund, Areva and the Northern Neighbors Foundation.
