The Smoking Bylaw is Now Being Enforced.

At their meeting last night Flin Flon City Council passed on final reading an amended smoking bylaw. The bylaw will prohibit smoking within 5 meters or 16 feet of the doorway of any building open to the public.  It was amended to include provincial legislation that subjects vaping to the same restrictions as smoking products.

Council also received the Fire Chiefs report for September indicating four incidents during the month.

Council approved the use of City Hall as headquarters for Operation Red Nose that runs through December to get people and their vehicles home safely during the holiday season.

Mayor Cal Huntley and Council congratulated all involved in a successful Culture Days weekend.

Mayor Huntley also recognized the passing of Jim Fell noting his contributions to the community that included years on the Library Board, Museum Board and in scouting programs.

And Councilor Karen MacKinnon urged people to purchase 50-50 tickets being sold by the Library as they are in need of funding to continue to provide their services.
