Fire Center Manager Dennis Trueman reported late yesterday while the Granite Fire north of Jan Lake and the Wilken Fire south of Pelican Narrows are still not contained the Flo Fire at Florence Lake 19 kilometers north of Creighton is at 27 hundred hectares and is contained.  He says scanning for hot areas near and around the perimeter of the Flo fire is ongoing and crews continue to extinguish any hot areas identified by the scanning process.  He says there’s still pockets of fuel within the perimeter that continue to burn and produce some smoke in the area so people will see smoke but the fire is contained at this time.

Trueman adds the Wilkin fire covers about 61 hundred hectares and the Granite Fire is about 20 thousand hectares but crews are making good progress in spite of difficult weather conditions with fire fighters, helicopters and air tankers working on these fires.
