There is Less Liquor in Northern Saskatchewan.

Last Thursday and Friday members of the Pelican Narrows, Sandy Bay, Southend and Creighton RCMP Detachments were assisted by Saskatchewan Environment and Resource Management. They conducted two days of enforcement on roads and highways around several northern communities targeting alcohol and traffic-related offences.

Significant amounts of liquor were seized and 15 people were charged under the Alcohol and Gaming Regulation Act with canvassing, possession or bootlegging related liquor offences. The total estimated street value of the seized liquor is 6380 dollars. In addition to the seizures: 879 vehicles were checked; 7 traffic safety act violations were issued; one Criminal Code arrest warrant was executed.

RCMP advise they will be conducting future initiatives in various northern communities throughout the year. The primary objective is to disrupt the supply of alcohol destined for illegal resale in northern Saskatchewan communities.
