Fire Crews are Prepared for Fire Season in Manitoba.

With the ongoing forest fire crisis in British Columbia the Manager of Wildfire Programs at Manitoba Sustainable Development Gary Friesen says in Manitoba so far we’re below average for this date as we’ve got a total of 95 fires to date and the average is about 316 and right now the south is getting a fairly wide area of rain but the north had pockets of showers but has been drying out and temperatures are warm and we’ve had a lot of lightening.  He says they’ve got resources and crews stationed all through the forest area just in anticipation of any new fires that start.

Friesen urges anyone seeing a wildfire to report it immediately by calling 1-800-782-0076 or 9 1 1.
