The Flin Flon Public Library continues to host their Ore Sample Writers Series Thursday. Administrator Courtney Campbell says its starts with a free workshop from 5:45 to 6:45 on Generating Material with George Elliott Clarke. She explains he was the 4th Poet Laureate of Toronto from 2012 to 15 and is the 7th Parliamentary Poet Laureate from 2016 t0 17. She adds he is an artist who writes songs, drama, fiction, screen plays, essays and poetry and he’s a professor at the University of Toronto but has also taught at Duke, McGill, UBC and Harvard. She notes he has eight honorary doctorates and lots of awards and recognitions for his work and has published many works over the years.
People attending the workshop should bring a pen and paper or a keyboard. Following the workshop a reading by Clarke will take place at 7. The workshop and readings are free and everyone is encouraged to attend.
