Saskatchewan Lieutenant Governor Vaughn Solomon Schofield has announced ten of the province’s most dedicated volunteers will receive the Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal. Among them is Denare Beach resident Mary Wright. Wright says she was surprised by the announcement and she feels honored but she also feels there are so many volunteers in the community that also deserve an award so she’s hoping that they will get their turn as well and she’ll certainly make some recommendations in the future.
The announcement mentions Mary Wright is a long term member of the Denare Beach Recreation Board and for more than 20 years has been committed to the community and its residents. She has spent countless hours investing in the future of local youth by ensuring the youth drop-in program continues to operate as a strong, viable community resource adding Mary is committed to the development of sport, culture, recreation and to the preservation of nature.
She will receive her medal in Regina on Monday, April 24th.
