Hudbay has announced an optimized mine plan for Lalor Mine near Snow Lake as well as a feasibility study for its Rosemont project in Arizona.
The updated Lalor Mine plan incorporates an increase in the throughput rate at the Stall concentrator and in planned zinc production. Feasibility work is ongoing for the Lalor gold zone and copper gold zone targeting an additional 15 hundred tonnes per day through the New Britannia mill.
President Alan Hair says these enhancements offer low cost, near term zinc production growth with potential future gold production upside and positions their Manitoba business unit to be a strong contributor to Hudbay’s results for many years to come. He adds the Rosemont project is expected to be one of the first new copper mines to be built when copper prices improve and once approved has the capacity to generate strong returns for Hudbay shareholders. The focus of the Flin Flon area Triple Seven and Reed mines is maximizing values as the mines approach the end of their lives. Hudbay has re-sequenced the Triple Seven Mine plan to prioritize stopes containing higher zinc grades in order to take advantage of favorable expected zinc prices.
