Flin Flon MLA Tom Lindsey has asked the government to consult with northerners on health care.  He says the Northern Health Region serves over 74 thousand people but is being asked to cut six million dollars without consultation with northerners or front line workers.  He says the Premier is forcing unrealistic budgets on the RHA cutting non-insured services for thousands of northerners and we know cutting non-insured services means cutting mental health supports, but we don’t know the full extent of what these cuts mean.  Lindsey asked will the Minister for health table a complete list of those non-insured services that he’s planning to chop so northerners have an accurate sense of how much damage this is going to cause them.

Health Minister Kelvin Goertzen replied the government has made a strong investment in the north but also believes in ensuring there is sustainability in the health care system.
