Summer Games, a Librarian and Grants Were All Part of Last Nights Flin Flon City Council Meeting.

 

At the meeting Council passed a resolution supporting an application by Flin Flon Parks and Recreation to host the 2020 Power Smart Manitoba Summer Games.  Applications must be in by February 28th.

             

Councilor Bill Hanson reported a new administrator has been hired for the Public Library.  Courtney Campbell comes of Flin Flon from Minto, Manitoba.

             

Council passed resolutions approving grant applications to the Small Community Active Transportation Fund for the Flin Flon Trail System Project which includes the Ski Trail, Boardwalk and Fitness trail at a total cost of 15 thousand dollars maximum as well as 50 thousand max for enhancing accessibility of sidewalks and pathways.

             

And Council received a request to take part in the annual poetry challenge by inviting a local poet to a meeting bringing poetry into the public eye and promoting local talent.  The event recognizes UNESCO World Poetry Day on March 21st and National Poetry Month in April.  Council has taken part in the past and referred the request to Committee of the Whole Council.
