The Chair of the Aqua Center Community Committee Kara Plamondon told Flin Flon City Council last night they have raised 136 thousand dollars toward the Aqua Center upgrade project so far with support from the community and surrounding areas.  She says they are looking for grants and sponsorships as they move forward.  She says they have a fun fundraising idea from a man in The Pas who designs monopoly games that fit a community who will make one on Flin Flon with local sponsors and local history that will be available for the Canada 150 Homecoming this summer. They are also looking at a purchase a fish fundraiser as well as a dream draw.  Plamondon added her committee is committed to this project as the pool is one of the important things that draws people to this community.

On the topic of the Homecoming Councilor Colleen McKee reported they now have over 1550 people registered with the deadline today.  She says the deadline was set in order to plan venues for their events.  Once the numbers are reviewed they will determine how many more people can register.
