Some Residents Are Concerned About a Dog Ban.

At their meeting Tuesday night Flin Flon City Council received and filed a petition with over 300 signatures.  It asks them not to bring in bans on specific breeds of dogs.  Mayor Cal Huntley says they will receive the petition as information as they haven’t even considered the idea of a ban adding pets have to be managed properly and that has to be done by the owner.

Councilor Karen McKinnon told Council that she has invited the two candidates in the byelection to fill a seat on Council to speak to the Chamber of Commerce.  Guy Rideout and Colleen Arnold will speak to the Chamber at their meeting May 10th at noon at the Friendship Center.  She says it is a Chamber meeting but the public is invited to attend.

Council also agreed to move their next regular meeting from May 17th to the 24th in order to include their budget meeting at 7 o’clock before their regular meeting starts at 7:30.  Mayor Huntley says you’re not going to see anything dramatic in the budget but there are challenges to be met.

Mayor Huntley also officially welcomed Sergeant Mark Svaren to the Flin Flon RCMP detachment and congratulated the Flin Flon Bomber team and organization on a great season of hockey.
