City Council Continues to Monitor the use of All Terrain Vehicles in the Community.

At their meeting in May members of Flin Flon City Council agreed that due to the number of complaints about the abuse of ATV rules they would put the focus on safety.  They agreed to a 12 month period where present rules remain in place but if complaints continued they would look at removing them and ATV owners would have to go back to trailering their machines out of the city.

Council had asked people seeing ATV operators violating the rules to contact the RCMP and Councilor Leslie Beck who headsthe Traffic Commission reported on Tuesday night that at the last Commission meeting the RCMP reported they are getting more calls reporting incidents and there have been prosecutions.

Councilor Colleen McKee stated Council wants to see the ATV privileges continue so people can safely drive their vehicles out of the town but people still need to know they are safe in our playgrounds and parks where some people are now speeding on their ATVs. They will continue to monitor the situation until next May.
