This is National Fishing Week sponsored by the Canadian National Sport Fishing Foundation.  Their Multimedia Correspondent Sarah McMichael says the idea is to encourage Canadians to start or get back to fishing.  She says we in Canada take for granted the amazing outdoor environment we have all around us and there’s so many distractions with work, technology and all these things that keep us away from going outdoors so National Fishing Week is a time when we can put all that stuff away and get outside and enjoy the environment that surrounds us and offers so many amazing opportunities.

The Foundation also encourages you to take part in the free family fishing weekends held in each province including Manitoba in June and Saskatchewan later this month.
