All Terrain Vehicle Operators Have Been Given an Ultimatum.

After receiving numerous complaints about the abuse of ATV rules in the city that allow riders to drive their vehicles out of the city by the shortest route Flin Flon City Council has decided to put the focus on safety.  They have agreed to a 12 month period where the present rules will stay in place but if complaints continue to come in they will look at removing those privileges and ATV owners will have to go back to having to trailer their machines out of the city. Mayor Cal Huntley says each individual is responsible for their own actions but those actions can affect others and if complaints continue to come in all will lose their privileges. Council members added there are maps available showing access routes, parks and school grounds are off limits, there are numerous safety rules to be met before you can operate an All Terrain Vehicle and if you see somebody breaking the rules report them to the RCMP.

In other business Council passed on final reading an amendment to the bylaw to establish standards of maintenance and occupancy for residential property.  The amendment increases the fine for people who don’t meet those standards from 100 dollars to 5 thousand.
