Flin Flon Students Were Successful at a Heritage Fair.

Eleven grade 5 to 9 students from Flin Flon took part in the Red River Heritage Fair at the University of Winnipeg last week.  As the main organizer James Dykstra told us then the Fair is held to encourage students to learn more about our nations past under the theme Canadian Heritage by finding a part of Canada that they think is cool and putting together a project on it.

Two of the Flin Flon Students received awards at the Fair.  Grayden Bedford received the HBC Explorers Award for his project Quest for the Northwest Passage and Chloe Reitlo will be invited to participate in the Young Citizens program based on her project The Flin Flon Smokestack. She will now make a video of her project that will be shared with Canadians online and she’ll compete to win a trip to Ottawa this fall.

There were over 200 student involved in the Heritage Fair with Flin Flon Students the only ones from outside Winnipeg.
