The Nuclear Waste Management Organization is concluding work in Creighton which has been engaged in learning about Canada’s plan for the long term management of used nuclear fuel.  Their Manager of Communications Mike Krizanc explains the NWMO did conduct a geological study over the past year in the Creighton area and the information gleaned from that revealed the areas near Creighton really had some geological complexities that reduced the likelihood of finding a suitable site.

Krizanc adds there were numerous fractures found in the areas of interest that could have had an impact on the safety of a sight.  He says they are grateful for the opportunity to work and learn with the people of Creighton as well as Denare Beach and Flin Flon.
