As you turn you clocks back to standard time this weekend, the Flin Flon Fire Department wants you to also think about fire safety.  Fire Chief Jim Petrie says start with your smoke detectors.  He explains you want t o make sure those smoke detectors are operational as they are a life saving device and batteries wear out so change them at least once a year but preferably twice a year. He adds you want to make sure at two o’clock in the morning when that thing goes off you have time to get out because if it doesn’t go off it’s the smoke that will kill you.

Petrie also reminds you to create and practice a home escape plan and make sure your chimney is clean.
