The Food Bank is Again Seeing an Increase in its Numbers

At their 23rd annual meeting the Lord’s Bounty Food Banks Food Distribution Chair Dennis Hydamaka reported an increase in food distribution during the past year.  The number of client files increased from 171 to 178.  They experienced a 19 percent increase in hampers distributed and an 11.4 percent increase in the number of people fed with a lot fewer moms with children but a lot more single people coming in.

Hydamaka said the dynamics of the Food Bank continue to change being that large food drives and the number of corporate sponsors has diminished considerably.  They are now purchasing approximately 80 to 90 percent of their non-perishable food stuff to fill the hampers. He reported they spent 98 hundred dollars more than they took in last year but were greatly helped by the 75 hundred dollar donation from the Fire Department and Scotia Bank through the boot drive.

He concluded they have been blessed with a full slate of volunteers and were adequately staffed throughout most of the year.
