Saskatchewan’s Government Relations Minister Jim Reiter reports the province’s municipalities will be receiving 8.3 million dollars more in revenue sharing next year thanks to an increase in provincial sales tax revenues in 2013-14. He says in next year’s budget they will be receiving a record high 265.3 million dollars from the province in revenue sharing.

They report in Creighton revenue sharing has increased from just over 452 thousand dollars in 2007-08 to just under 1.3 million dollars in 2013-14 an increase of 183 percent.  In Denare Beach revenue sharing has increased from just under 366 thousand in 2007-08 to just under 858 thousand in 2013-14 an increase of 134 percent.

Municipal revenue sharing is based on one percentage point of PST and was started in 2007.
