You Better Keep Your Trees Trimmed

Following complaints Flin Flon City Council is considering sending letters to people who have trees or bushes hanging over public sidewalks so they interfere with people walking by.  Mayor George Fontaine says they could write to the property owners asking them to trim the trees or bushes and if they don’t the city could send someone to do it and bill the cost to the property owner.

The city is still waiting to hear from the Public Utilities Board regarding their application for an increase in our utility bills.  The increase is due to the start up of the new water treatment plant.  They applied for a 30 percent increase this year and 2 percent in each of the following two years or 20 percent this year and 12 percent next year.

Council also renewed the contract for the operation of the Eco-Center oil recycling program at the landfill site and renewed their agreement with the Saskatchewan government for the transfer of gas tax revenue to municipalities.
