Discussion Continues on Services to Channing

A large delegation from Channing attended last night’s Flin Flon City Council meeting to again discuss the number of septic tank pump outs the City will provide for residents.  Mayor George Fontaine says they have been discussing the issue and want to find a system that will work and work for the long term.  Council has proposed a pump out every ten days and putting money up to help those who want to transition to a larger holding tank.

Residents have told Council every ten days does not work for everyone especially large families who need more pump outs than smaller families suggesting finding a way to average out the total pump outs over the 69 households.  Council will continue to look at the issue with input from residents with Mayor Fontaine saying they want to keep it running as efficiently as possible.

In other business Council received the Fire Chief’s report for June indicating eight calls including five false alarms with Council considering charging residents a fee to cover the cost of  false alarms.

And Councilor Skip Martin announced he will not be seeking re-election this fall.
