A Group of Students is Well Aware of Cancer

A group of 5 staff members, six students and a friend from Frontier Collegiate in Cranberry Portage celebrated their success in the Brave the Shave challenge on Friday after raising over 22 hundred dollars for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, the most of all schools in the province.  They were joined in fund raising by MLA Clarence Pettersen who added over 500 dollars and had his head shaved after praising those involved.  He says he’s overwhelmed that young people have taken it upon themselves to collect money and fight cancer adding every dollar counts but it’s not the money.  He says when he looks at the young students it’s about the caring and respect and dedication they have to try and wipe this out because cancer does involve us all so let’s fight the fight.

Pettersen presented participation certificates including one to the overseeing teacher Bill Taylor.

Those who took part told of their family members who have suffered from cancer inspiring them to take part in Brave the Shave and the earlier Day of Pink.
