The annual provincial mine rescue competition was held in Thompson over the weekend.

Mine Safety’s Olaf Hettrick says for an all new team the Hudbay Flin Flon team did really well. The winning team was Hudbay Snow Lake made up of Captain Cliff Parsons, Aldin Kowalchuk, Bob Forsyth, Steven Reed, Adam Harrower, Director of Operations Dave Kendall, Technician Terry Hornyak and Coach Kevin Lief.

The host Vale Thompson Team came in second. Other teams were from Tanco in Lac du Bonnet and San Gold from Bissett.

Hettrick says all teams did really well with all members going home a better mine rescue person as the competition is the best training they’re going to get.
